Where can I find a good church? When do the Miracles start?

Where can I find a good church? In the New Testament Greek, there are two words for 'good'. One (kalos) means 'morally good, noble, praiseworthy, leading to salvation'.  The other (agathos) refers to the 'perfection of God, things of the Holy Spirit.'

A good Christian church is where people can receive salvation and the perfection of God, including the Baptism and Gifts of the Holy Spirit, healing, deliverance and prayer for needs with the 'signs  following' to confirm the preaching (Mk. 16:17-20).

It is a church where the Holy Spirit directs Christians to use their Gifts of the Holy Spirit. (Rom. 12:6-8; 1 Cor. 12:8-10). The New Testament (1 Cor. 12:26) points out that the only order of worship or liturgy that should be given. Christians will go to meetings expecting to see and experience signs, wonders and miracles and they will not be disappointed.

About 4 years ago, I preached and ministered at a large church in Toronto, Ontario, where a young man in his 20's was brought by a friend from a city about 2 hours away. He had never been involved in a church and he was not saved.  When I gave the invitation for prayer, he responded and came to the altar for prayer. We prayed and he received salvation and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and easily began to speak in tongues (Acts 2:4). He watched several hundred people receive ministry: salvation, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:45), healing, deliverance and other needs were met.

Three weeks later, he called me to ask, "Can you tell me where there is a church in my town where the miracles happen?" I asked, "Why are you asking me this question?"

He explained, "I went to the Pentecostal church last Sunday. At the end of the service, I asked the Pastor, "When do the miracles start?" The pastor replied, "What do you mean?" Just what I said, "When do the miracles start?" "The service is over," the Pastor remarked.

He turned to me and asked, "Gord, can you tell me where there is a church where the miracles start?" Reluctantly, I told him that there are very few churches where God's miracles are happening. He was disappointed but understood.

However, I would you like to take on a mission to help me and others. "Will you go to a different church every Sunday until you find a place were the miracles start?" He agreed. I'm still waiting to hear from him...

A good church is a place where miracles happen at every service. Julie Lyons, a reporter for a Dallas Newspaper, went out to find a church where a minister would pray for crack-cocaine addicts, and where people were being healed. She describes in her book, "Holy Roller", how she found only one. Although it was "scruffy-looking", she made it her church home after receiving ministry and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Every church/fellowship should look for God's miracles as part of their spiritual fabric. If not, like Joseph who ran away from Potiphar's wife (Gen. 39:12), believers will feel unsettled and will run until they find a miracle church.

This is the reason Jesus has led us to have house meetings - a place/church where people can attend and experience God's miracles. Our ministry helps to build up the "Body of Christ: (Eph. 4:11-16) so that every church can be a place where the "miracles start".
