Remembrance Day is to Observe what Jesus has Done for Us.
GWEA Monthly Message, November 2020
REVEREND GORDON WILLIAMS

This coming November 11th is Remembrance Day in Canada, and May 25th was Memorial Day in the United States. This is where we remember those brave men and women who died serving our countries in the Armed Forces.

It is also a time to remember that there is an ongoing spiritual war in the world that goes on each day of our lives. The Apostle Paul reminded us of this when he wrote, “For though we live in the world (flesh) we are not carrying on a worldly (fleshly) war, for the weapons of our warfare are not worldly (fleshly) but have divine (God’s) power to destroy strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:3–4).

Jesus described the “power” when He said, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Our weapons are provided by the Holy Spirit when we receive Salvation and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Jn. 3:3, 5, 7) with the proof of the “signs following” (Mk. 16:17–18), and the 15 Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:6–8; 1 Cor. 12:8–10). Signs, wonders and miracles are the visible "victory results" of real spiritual warfare (Heb. 2:4). If there are none, then a church is being defeated by the enemy.

Once a man from Saskatchewan, Canada, after receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4), wrote a letter saying: “I personally want to thank you for interceding on my behalf. I was suffering from a war injury, a fractured pelvis, where the sacroiliac created pain when walking and bending down. A small voice said ‘Go to the crusade.’ As you prayed with me, my hip was healed, along with the sacroiliac and the arthritis.”

Each month I receive many phone calls, and I pray with people for forgiveness of sin, (Salvation), the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and for their needs. And to much of their surprise, they receive the gift of “tongues”, which is God’s way of communicating with us directly through the Holy Spirit.

When we were in Ecuador, we prayed with a woman who was possessed with a demon and she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the proof of speaking in tongues. Later, she came to me to share her testimony and to show me a drawing of the wolf-like demon which had left her body after we prayed.

These testimonies/praise reports are all examples of “spiritual warfare” and destroying the enemy’s strongholds in our lives. When spirit-filled, Baptized in the Holy Spirit Christians use their Gifts of the Holy Spirit in ministry to meet people’s needs - they are doing “spiritual warfare”. Our greatest weapon is to share our personal testimonies (Rev. 12:14) with other people so they can become “new creations” (2 Cor. 5:17).

If you need prayer for Salvation, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the “signs following” and “Gifts of the Holy Spirit, we invite you come to one of our house meetings or contact us for prayer. â€†Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thess. 5:16-18).
