HALLOWEEN MEANS "HOLY EVENING"
REVEREND GORDON WILLIAMS, OCTOBER 2013

Rev. Gordon Williams, Evangelist

Halloween is coming up again on October 31st and with it comes all of the questions that I receive every year, "Isn't this an occult celebration?" "Isn't this the night that the devil lets loose all the demons?" "Isn't it the devil’s night?" My answer is the same this year as always... No! No! No!

Early in the history of the Christian Church, the leadership was led by the Holy Spirit to replace all of the so-called pagan holidays and non-Christian celebrations with Christian "holy days”. This was done to let us know that Jesus Christ is Lord, and the only Lord of every day and night in every country in the world.

Halloween is the Christian name for that night. It means "Holy Evening” and "All Saints’ Day” commemorating those believers who have been martyred (killed because they were Christians). Find a Christian calendar. You'll see every day of the year has a Christian name given to it to remind us that Jesus is in charge and not the devil. Satan and all his rebellious angels were cast out of heaven (Lk. 10-18).

The angels that sinned did not change into demons or evil spirits. They have been chained up in a temporary hell called Tartarus (2 Pet. 2: 4; Jude 1: 6) until Judgment Day when Jesus returns. Some people who do not know or read their Scripture closely, misinterpret Rev. 8:12 and 12:3, which describes God’s judgment on the earth and the world. "A third of the stars " had a "third of their light darkened”, means that one third of the angels fell to earth and turned into demons. This is incorrect interpretation of scripture. The only fallen angel to live and continue his appointed work is Satan, the devil (Lk. 10: 11; 1 Pet.5: 8). The origin of demons have been missed by most pastors and teachers. In my book, "The Mystery of Demons Exposed” which is almost completed. I explain what the Bible tells us about demons and where they came from.

Jesus is the most high God and all other so-called "gods” are demons or evil spirits (1 Cor. 10: 20). A Christian who has "the signs following” can cast demons out of people and send them to a temporary hell called Tartarus. When Jesus returns they will go into the "lake of fire” (Gehenna) with Satan (devil) and all those whose names are not written in the Book of Life (Rev. 19: 20; 20: 10, 14 - 5). Until then, we have nothing to fear if we are Christians who have received salvation and the Baptism the Holy Spirit with the ”signs” following. Satan (Jas. 4:7) and all evil spirits are under our authority (Mk. 16:17).

Halloween is a victory night to celebrate Jesus’s victory over sin, the devil and evil spirits! Let’s thank Him, "for God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1: 6 -7) . Jesus has "overcome the world” (Jn. 16: 33), and Satan (1 Jn. 2: 13 - 14)! Jesus has made us "over-comers” (1 Jn. 5: 4- 5)!

If you have not become an "over-comer” through Jesus, please come to a meeting or phone me and we can ask Him to make you an "over-comer”. Then we can celebrate Jesus’ victory together!

Yours in Jesus,

Rev. Gordon Williams
