REVEREND GORDON WILLIAMS, MARCH 2015

March leads us into Holy Week which is a reminder of Jesus's ministry, his suffering and his sacrificial death on the Cross of Calvary. Paul wrote to the Galatian Church (Gal. 3:1-5) speaking about those who attempted to keep the Old Testament Law's feasts, festivals and practices:

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Have you suffered so many things in vain - if indeed it was in vain? Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? (Galatians 3:1-5)

There are many today who try to follow the Old Testament laws. God “annullified the covenant” (Zech.11:10-11) and “the brotherhood between Judah and Israel” (Zech. 11:13-14) “at the lordly price of 30 shekels of silver and cast them into the treasury” (Zech. 11:13; Matt. 27:5,9). The Old Testament laws are no longer in effect, except where transferred into the New Testament (Heb. 8:13). In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrew 8:13)

Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in question of food and drink or with regard to a festival or new moon or a Sabbath... Let no one disqualify you, insisting on self abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head from whom the whole body.....grows with a growth that is from God.” (Col. 2:16-19)

The Name of Jesus

"For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)

Today many do not want to worship God using the name of Jesus. They mistakenly want to use the name Yeshua or Yeshuah which means Joshua. Our God’s personal name in Hebrew is “Yahweh” which had been removed 2,823 times from the Old Testament and replaced with LORD.

The name “Jesus” means “Yahweh is Salvation”. On the Day of Pentecost when Peter said, “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heave given a among men under heaven by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12), he was talking about “Jesus” who is “Yahweh in the flesh” (Jn. 1:14).

Many are also claiming that the Temple in Jerusalem is to be rebuilt (2 Chronicles 3:1). The temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. by the Romans. In 363 A.D. the Emperor Julian, in order to defeat Jesus’ prophecy undertook to rebuild the temple but his plans were frustrated when fire burst out of the ground destroying the materials and many of the workers. Jesus said, “You see all these, do you not? I say to you, there will not be one stone left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down” (Matt. 24:1-2; Mk.13:2; Lk. 21-5). In Greek, He was saying, “This temple is going to be destroyed once and for all times.. (Greek. Aorist Tense).

Jesus also prophesied that there was going to be a “desolating sacrilege in the holy place, temple” which means a time when daily burnt sacrifices for sin would no longer be done for forgiveness of sin (Dan. 11:31-32). Jesus' prophesy was fulfilled in 691 A.D. by the Moslems who built the Temple of Solomon on the same ground, thus preventing the Temple of Jerusalem ever to be rebuilt.

But the apostle Paul has told us that God has already rebuilt his Temple. Paul said,

Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.” (1 Cor. 3:16-17).

This is the reason why we, His Temple, have the ministry of Jesus Christ for Salvation, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, healing and deliverance. Let’s rejoice in being Jesus’ Temple!

Yours in Jesus,
