The Holy Spirit Guides and gives Churches Vision!
REVEREND GORDON WILLIAMS, JUNE 2016

God’s promises each believer with a new heart. "I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh" (Ez. 36:26). This first happened on the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came as promised, baptizing the believers into Christ and giving them power to be His witnesses. The Day of Pentecost also witnessed signs which followed the coming of the Holy Spirit. As Jesus had predicted those who believed spoke with new tongues (Acts 2:4; Mk 16:17), the supernatural ability to speak in a language unknown to them. When a church leadership decides the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not for today", the very heart of their church is cut out, and their fellowship is left with hopelessness.

Every time church leaders, pastors and theologians tell people it is not necessary to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, they take on the attributes of “religious people”.  A religious person is someone who lacks the assurance of their Salvation and the hope of Jesus’ guidance every day (John 3:3-5). Without the power of the Holy Spirit there cannot be any “signs, wonders and miracles". "'Unless you people see signs and wonders,' Jesus told him, 'you will never believe.'" (John 4:48)

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a key part of the Salvation package and essential to every believer receiving thereof (Acts 1:4). Without the power of the Holy Spirit there can be none of the “Gifts of the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 12:6–8; 1 Cor. 12:8–10) where Jesus’ people can have their needs met. Without the power of the Holy Spirit there can be no “Fruit of the Spirit” (Gal. 5:22–24). Without the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit", we can only achieve these traits on the surface level. The human spirit produces the works of the flesh Paul describes in Galatians 5:19:21:

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Since I provide leadership in the Evangelical Church Ministerial Fellowship of Canada (ECAMFC), I recently attended a Conference for Pastors in New Jersey, USA. I was particularly interested in what was called “The Presidents’ Panel” in which nine Presidents from different Seminaries discussed “The Future of Theological Education and the Church”. I was looking for some clear vision for our churches. I discovered that none of the discussions really had a clear vision that could recover churches from their mass hemorrhaging of members. Scripture tells us, “Where there is no vision the people perish” (Prov. 29:18). On the contrary, I am grateful for the Holy Spirit's vision for our ministry and the continual growth of our house churches.

"The Baptism of the Holy Spirit enables the 'Gifts of the Spirit' and produces the 'Fruit of the Spirit' within us. With daily guidance from the Holy Spirit, Churches will have a clear vision for their ministry."   (Rev. Gordon Williams)

We all require our own “Day of Pentecost” with the same evidence as was given to those people! Without the proof called “Signs” (Mk. 16:17–18) we cannot be “Born Again” Christians (Jn. 3:3, 5, 7). Almost every week, I receive email and phone calls from people who are asking, “Where can I find a church where the miracles happen?” Every person who is born again and baptized with the Holy Spirit with the “signs following” can do the works of Jesus (Jn. 14:12–14). If you cannot locate a church where the "Miracles of Jesus" are happening, find such a Christian who can witness to you and pray for you.

If you or/and your family or friends have not yet received and would like to receive either Salvation, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, a Gift of the Holy Spirit, Healing, Deliverance, etc., I invite you come to one of our house meetings or contact me.

Yours in Jesus,  Rev. Gordon Williams
