“HELP GORDON SHARE CHRISTMAS!”
Each year we receive requests to help individuals and families who because of sickness, injuries, loss of jobs, unemployment and various other reasons, they cannot afford to celebrate Christmas. This means purchasing Christmas gifts, food and clothing. Christmas is a constant reminder that Jesus came to save, heal and meet all our needs – “we are all sinners who have fallen short of the glory of God”. When Jesus answered Judas, He said: “The poor you have always with you, but you will not always have me” (Matt. 26:11). He uses the poor to test our faithfulness to him. And those who will be welcomed into heaven will ask Jesus, “Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and gave you drink; when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you; and when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?” And King Jesus will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” (Matt. 25:37-40). Christmas is a wonderful time to minister to Jesus as we help other people. Since we have started our “Share Christmas Program”, you have helped us to meet the many requests that we receive from people who know other people: friends, family members, children, senior citizens, relatives, acquaintances, strangers, etc. Please pray and ask Jesus what you should do in addition to your monthly support of our ministry. This is called “alms giving” which as Cornelius was told by the angel, “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God” (Acts 10:4).
“CHRISTMAS IS OUR ANSWER TO PRAYER” (LK 2:1-20; IS. 9:6)
Christmas represents the birth of Jesus and is the answer to peoples’ call throughout the centuries. “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord (Yahweh)” (Ps. 118:26; Mk. 11:10). “Hosanna” is a Hebrew word that means “save us.” Israel’s people had been praying and prophesying for many centuries that God would fulfill His promise to send a Saviour: “For to us a son is born, to us a son is given… and his name will be called ‘Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace’” (Is. 9:6). Jesus came and paid for the sin of the world by dying on the Cross of Calvary. To those who have received him as Saviour and Lord, He tells them, “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask me anything in my name, I will do it” (Jn. 14:13-14). No longer do we have to shout “Hosanna” (save us) because He has already done so! We are saved by His shed blood and the word of our Testimony! (Jn. 3:16-17; Eph. 2:8; Rev. 12:11) When we are saved, we can rejoice because we are members of His Family (Eph. 1:5-7) and have reservations in heaven, the New Jerusalem.
This is the reason why we invite you to send in your needs: personal, family, friends, acquaintances, business, church and health needs so we can pray for you. If you need prayer, please email your prayer requests or by posting to our "Facebook Prayer Group Page".
And when Jesus has met your needs, please let us know so we can praise Him along with you and "give thanks with a grateful heart!” We invite you to send in your praise reports and testimonies in a "Thank You Jesus Report." This way many others can be encouraged and be ministered to as well (Rev 12:11). Email your praise reports online through our web page. Jesus still does, "signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his own will” (Heb. 2:4). He wants to supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philip. 4:19).
“THE GUIDANCE OF GOD” (I COR. 14:4; JN. 16:13-15)
A man whose daughter had received Salvation and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit at one of our Camp Meeting services at Carrick Camp one summer, asked for prayer for “God’s guidance”. Before praying, I asked him if he had received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit yet. He told me that he had received prayer for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit several times. “Did you receive the evidence of speaking in tongues?” I responded. He replied, “I have been going to a Pentecostal church for 32 years, and I was told that tongues was not for everyone.” I explained that Jesus said that tongues is one of the “signs following” (Mk. 16:17-18), and that all believers with tongues receive God’s guidance. Only “unspiritual” (1 Cor. 2:14) people who have never received the Holy Spirit cannot, and do not want to speak in tongues. We prayed together asking Jesus to forgive his sin and to Baptize him with the Holy Spirit. He was having a little trouble releasing his tongues and said “I don’t know how to do this… I think I’m just making up something”. But not long after, he was speaking fluently in his new tongues’ language the Holy Spirit had given him. Peter tells us that every believer can receive tongues: “Truly, I perceive that God shows no partiality because all of the Gentiles in Cornelius’ house received tongues” (Acts 10:34, 46).
“BE A CHRISTMAS PARTNER WITH GORDON (JN. 4:14; 7:38; 4:4-26) Evangelism is “the reason for the season”. Christmas is first and foremost about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people who need salvation and all the benefits of our salvation (Ps. 103:2-5). It is a yearly reminder that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Rom. 5:12) but God has provided a Saviour, Jesus, “who is Christ the Lord”. And it is our job to give people the opportunity of knowing Jesus not just as their Saviour, but as their Lord, Healer and Deliverer as well. With your help, we continue to minister to those in need. Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; pray therefore, the Lord of the Harvest to send out labourers into his harvest” (Lk. 10:2). Gordon continues to reach out to you for your help by supplying “seed” as Paul explained to the Corinthians. The “seed” is your financial contributions that have made it possible for Gordon to minister wherever God leads him. It also allows him to provide Bibles, literature and books to help people grow in Jesus Christ, and learn how to listen and cooperate with the Holy Spirit.
When you help, “God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Cor. 9:8). This means that every Salvation, every Baptism of the Holy Spirit, every healing, every miracle, every deliverance is credited to you because of your partnership with Gordon. Please continue to be a “cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7) and prayerfully ask Jesus how you can contribute.
