Surrender your Pain to Jesus! Thank you Jesus, for Forgiving Me.
At the Gathering Place, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba a women shared with me all the anxiety she felt as the result of her divorce; and even after she had remarried, the anxiety persisted. She anguished over the pain that her children and ex-husband were carrying, even though he too was also remarried.
 
I told to her that they were no longer her responsibility, and that she needed to let go; giving them over to Jesus to deal with. She had already received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 

“But, I have already done that!” she sobbed. I reasoned with her that she in fact had not done that! In actual fact she was continually taking them back, and making herself accountable for their pain.

Have seen this situation many times, I instructed her turn them back over to Jesus each time she even thought of them, and then to pray these words out loud: 

“Jesus, please forgive me, I release them back over to you; and they are now your concern. Please bless them abundantly so they will in turn come to you for their healing" (Luke 15:11-32).

After she prayed, she felt release as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

But there was one more important thing she had to do to be set free from her anxiety - she needed to forgive herself. She needed to forgive herself for her failings, and for continually taking on the burden of her loved ones after surrendering it all to Jesus.  

As part of her healing, I asked her to look into a mirror. I pointed to her reflection, and said, “You need to forgive her.” She understood. Tears of forgiveness flowed down her cheeks as she looked at herself standing in the mirror. Choked with emotion, she pointed to herself and slowly uttered, “I forgive y-o-u!” 

When the disciple Peter asked Jesus, "Lord, how often am I to forgive my brother when he sins against me? Seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven" (Matt. 18:22)

When a Christian forgives someone, especially themselves, they surrender the right to even mention or talk about it again (1 Cor. 13:5). Her memories are not to condemn her, but only to remind her to say, “Thank you, Jesus, for forgiving and healing me!” 

She concluded with a smile and was sure to thank Jesus, for forgiving her and for her new found freedom.

My final instructions to her was to pray in tongues about everything (Eph. 6:18) – for herself, her family, and both her husband and ex-husband. 

She did so, and to my amazement, the continence on her face had changed - it was transformed with the glow of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 12:11). Praise the Lord!

If you are struggling with the painful memories of a past breakup or hurtful relationship, you too can be set free by continually giving over those people to Jesus. Each time you think of them, pray out loud: 

“Jesus, please forgive me, I release __________ back over to you; and he/she/they are now your concern. Please bless each one abundantly so they will in turn come to you for their healing" (Luke 15:11-32).

Then proceed to your closest mirror and look at yourself. Speak out loud, forgiving yourself for all the wrong that you have done. Then pray in tongues 'till you receive the peace that surpasses all understanding. 

Do this as many times as you ought to - until you have let go and have been set free from the affliction.

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you" (Philippians 4:8-10).

As a final note, each time you think upon the same people that have forgiven, thank Jesus for your forgiveness and that he has now taken over full responsibility of dealing with them. Agree to surrender your right to ever bring up the subject again, and you will be set free! Amen!
