At Calmar Christian Centre, Alberta, Canada a man in his 60's asked, “How do you deal with lust?” I explained, “One of the 'weapons of our warfare' (2 Cor. 10:4) as a Christian believer (Mark 16:17-18) is the Gift of the Holy Spirit called 'speaking in a tongues-language' (1 Cor. 12:9-11; 1 Cor. 14:4).
When you recognize that you are starting to lust, turn your attention to Jesus and pray also in your tongues language that you received when you were baptized in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4). And as your pray, you will receive healing which comes each time we pray. (James 4:2)
What is lust? Lust is one of those ‘vain imaginations’ (Rom. 1:21) that causes a person to misdirect their sexual desire towards somebody who is not your spouse. When this temptation comes upon you, it is necessary to start to pray in tongues, focusing your attention on Jesus. Often the Holy Spirit will direct your attention to your spouse or some ministry that the He wants you to do to replace vain imaginations.
This is what Paul was trying to explain when he wrote about husband-wife sexual relations that could not be satisfied for various reasons. He directs us to turn our attention to Jesus by setting aside the lust when it was not possible to have a marital relationship by using the Gift of the Holy Spirit which we all receive when we receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 7:7).
He is referring to the “Gift of Speaking in tongues” (Acts 2:4; Mk. 16:17). This will take your attention away from lust and replace it upon the healthy alternative of the fruit of the Holy Spirit of “self-control”. Whenever you catch yourself tempted to lust, start praying in your tongues language and the Holy Spirit will show your some ministry Jesus has for you to do.
When you pray in your tongues language and have faith in Jesus, just as the man from Alberta, you too will be set free from the lust that had been tormenting him. Praise the Lord!
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." (Galatians 5:1)
"Then Jesus said to him, 'Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.'" (John 4:48)
