Hear what the Spirit Says. The Warning Spirit

"Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says..."  (Hebrews 3:7-19).

The Holy Spirit warns us not to harden our hearts when we hear His voice - because many of us do. The Israelites did not want to hear God's voice, so they told Moses to speak to them. They were afraid to open themselves up to actually hearing from God themselves - but God's desire was to know His people personally. Many people today are like the Israelites.

Like Pharaoh, they harden their hearts against what God wants. It is astounding to read about how determined Pharaoh was to ignore God, before he finally relented. In the same way, many today really don't want to hear what the Holy Spirit has to say to them, and so they stay away from church services and prayer meetings all together. No matter how "user friendly" a church may appear, people held in the grip of rebellion will not respond.

When the Gospel is preached and people are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, their hearts are softened towards God. They want to hear from Him and know His plan for their lives. God wants to equip us with the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we can enjoy a wonderful relationship with Him and with His family, the Church.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, please speak to me every day, so that as a partaker of Christ, I can enjoy a personal relationship with God. Amen.
