The Fruits of the Holy Spirit are Necessary. The Spirit of Spiritual Fruit.

"If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit"  (Galatians 5:22-6:10).
 
Both the fruit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are necessary to have a "normal Christian life" so we can minister to the needs of other people. Without both, we end up with faith without works, or works without faith.

The fruit of the Spirit is absolutely necessary so that the gifts of the Holy Spirit can be accepted and received by people without fear. Love is the foundation when using all the Holy Spirit gifts so that people can trust Him.  

People need "joy" to understand that the gifts of the Holy Spirit bring happiness into our lives.

"Peace" is required for people to know that the gifts can give serenity in the midst of life's storms.

"Patience" is important for people to take the necessary time to receive the gifts.

"Kindness" is crucial in demonstrating that the gifts flow through likable people.

"Goodness" is required for people to know that only moral people can be trusted with the gifts. 

"Faithfulness" demonstrates that the gifts are always available.

"Gentleness" shows that the gifts are used under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Finally, "self-control" reassures people that the Holy Spirit doesn't cause others to do crazy, and embarrassing things.  

Prayer

Holy Spirit, please teach me to use Your gifts with Your fruit that I may honour Jesus. Amen.
