"For He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified have all one origin..." (Hebrews 2:10; 3:6)
Jesus, the "pioneer" of our salvation, was made perfect through suffering. The Greek word for "perfect" means to accomplish the goal or purpose for which a person exists. Jesus accomplished the full payment for our salvation through the Cross and resurrection. He is the One who sanctifies us and sets us apart for holy use. He makes us one with Him through the Holy Spirit who dwells both in Him and in us.
We are holy, not because we haven't sinned, but because we have been forgiven and filled with the Holy Spirit who works a continuous process of sanctification through us every day. The Holy Spirit's work is not a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but a daily process of renewal. He makes it possible for us, like Jesus, to say "I will proclaim Thy Name to My brethren, in the midst of the congregation I will praise Thee...I will put my trust in Him." (Heb. 2:12)
Because Jesus has destroyed the devil and the power of death, He has become our High Priest who made the offering that was necessary to save us. We have been given the Holy Spirit to worship God.
