"JESUS’S BIRTHDAY GIFTS!"
REVEREND GORDON WILLIAMS, DECEMBER 2013

Rev. Gordon Williams, Evangelist

Christmas is on its way – December 25! This is the time we remember Jesus Christ’s birthday. His birthday is the most unique day in history. It divides all recorded history according to the day when God "became flesh and dwelt amongst us” (Jn. 1:14).

Since then, time was divided between "B.C.”, which means "Before Christ,” and "A.D.”, which means, "Year of the Lord”. This division of time is our way of saying, "Jesus is Lord and God” over every day and year.

His birthday is very special because we do not give his "birthday gifts” to him but to other people in his name. These earthly gifts are to remind us that God gives heavenly gifts through which he can guide our lives to help other people. Jesus said, "If you fathers know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him (Lk. 11: 11).

Jesus is a "cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9: 7). When God saw that his people were not listening to him, he came out of love to pay for our sin (Jn. 3: 16). As a baby, he slipped into history almost unnoticed until he was identified by a few shepherds (Lk. 2: 8 – 20) and some wise men (Matt.2: 1 – 12). He grew up as a man, being tempted in every way, but he did not sin (Heb.4: 15). Jesus desires to give us gifts on his birthday that he paid for on the Cross (Jn. 10: 30).

The heavenly gifts that he bought for us are fantastic! They are so expensive that none of us can afford to buy or earn them. They are "beyond measure” (Mk. 7: 37) and are: Salvation (Rom. 1: 16); Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2: 4);15 Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 12: 9 – 8; 1 Cor. 12: 8 – 10); Signs (Deliverance, Tongues, Protection, Healing), (Mk. 16; 17 – 18); Abundant Life (Jn. 10: 10); Eternal Life (1 Jn. 2: 25); and he shows no partiality (Rom. 2: 11). These are his birthday gifts to us. Don’t forget to say, "Happy Birthday, Jesus and thank him for his birthday gifts!”

If you need Salvation, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, to rededicate your life to Jesus, receive a Gift of the Holy Spirit, healing, direction for your life, come to one of our meetings or call me. I will be happy to pray with you in the power of the Holy Spirit, for your Christmas gifts from Jesus.

Yours in Jesus,

Rev. Gordon Williams
