God is still in the miracle business today and our Churches are supposed to be a place where God's Miracles happen!
Several years ago when I was preaching in the Prayer Palace, Toronto Ontario, a man brought a friend to the service. He had never been in a church before. His friend had witnessed to him and prayed with him for Salvation and brought him to the church which was over 2 hours away so he could receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I prayed with him and he received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and fell to the floor speaking in his new tongues.
Three weeks later, he called me and asked, “Can you tell me where I can find a church where miracles happen?" He told me that he recently went to a local Pentecostal Church in anticipation of seeing signs, wonders and miracles happen as he did when he came to the Prayer Palace. He said that at the end of the service, he asked the pastor, “When do the miracles happen?” And the pastor said, “What do you mean?” He replied again, “When do the miracles happen?” The pastor said, “The service is over.” Disappointedly he replied, “Then I’m not coming back here!”
He had seen “signs, wonders and miracles” happen when I was doing ministry. He was one of the miracles himself! Then he remarked, “Is there any church in my town where the miracles happen?” Unfortunately, there was none that I had been aware of!
So I asked him, “Will you take on a mission for me? Will you go to a different church every Sunday until you find a church where the miracles happen? Then I can refer people to that church.” He agreed. Sadly, it has been many years and still I wait for his call!
That's the problem we're faced with today in our churches. In John 4:48, Jesus said, "Unless you people see signs and wonders (and miracles), you will never believe.” What He is implying is that signs, wonders and miracles should happen in every church just as it did in the New Testament.
Every person who is saved and baptized with the Holy Spirit, born again of water and the Spirit (Jn. 3:3,5,7) is a walking miracle! Jesus equips all of His witnesses to "drive out demons; speak in new tongues... and place their hands on sick people, and they will get well" (Mark 16:15-18).
